Manufacturer: Heroics & Ros
Genre: 1/300 WW1 Wargaming

Comments: This was a machine-gun-armed British medium tank of World War I. It was something of a failure in that respect, being relatively slow, poorly armoured, and with a short range and thus unable to fulfill its purpose of exploiting a breakthrough with a dash in behind the enemy. Also, it was difficult and tiring to drive. It was due to be replaced by new types when the war ended.

To modern eyes, the tank is built backwards — we're used to seeing the turret towards the front of the hull, not the back. The only major tank I can think of that's built in that form these days is the Israeli Merkava. Note that the Whippet's turret doesn't rotate, it's just an extension of the superstructure with a machine-gun mounted in each wall.

These models by Heroics & Ros are pretty basic, but they capture the boxy look of the vehicle fairly well.
