Comments: The mainstay of the German armoured forces during the Blitzkrieg attacks of 1939-40, the Panzer II was then already obsolescent and was soon replaced as a front-line tank by the PzKfw III. It remained in service for some time however, mainly in a reconnaisance role, and the chassis was used for a variety of self-propelled guns and tank-hunters.
