STIRGES

These little monsters are a nasty little favourite from my old AD&D days (and now my new D&D 3e days). This is an attempt to provide an affordable solution to the problem of getting swarms of them on to the tabletop.

Clicking on the thumbnail to the LEFT will take you to a PDF file of 25 of the little suckers. The page is laid out to fit on a 6" x 4" glossy photo card for use with my Epson 1440dpi inkjet printer, and the bitmap is at fairly high resolution (360dpi), so the file is large-ish at 1.03 megabytes. To ensure that the image prints to scale, ensure that Acrobat's 'Fit to Page' print option is turned OFF.

If you're on a slow connection, or you want to assemble your own page of stirges, clicking on the thumbnail to the RIGHT will take you to a 27 kilobyte JPG file of a single stirge.

In either case, once the little suckers are printed on to reasonably heavy card, cut them out with a sharp pointed scalpel, run a black marker around the edges (to hide the glaring white cuts), and you're in business. If you want to put more effort into them, they could be mounted on wire 'flying stands', but I leave that to the obsessives among you.
