In the beginning...

Fly-By-Night Express, a small and not particularly successful firm of truckers and locators, went belly-up in a blaze of unpleasant publicity regarding unpaid creditors, shareholder payment defaulting, and general financial jiggery-pokery. The employees of the firm (among whom were Fenella, Talya, and the Captain) were owed a substantial sum in back wages which the firm was utterly unable to pay. With persistent creditors and their teams of trusty attack-lawyers baying at their heels, the directors of the company were selling off assets just as fast as they could. The last substantial asset remaining to the company was the passenger freighter FF-6488-16-500 (named Sutton Hoo for it's AI). Fearing , quite reasonably, that if the Sutton Hoo were sold the directors would skip the planet with their employee's back wages and never be seen again, Fenella and co occupied the Sutton Hoo and refused to back down. Eventually, when the writs arriving in the morning mails started to outnumber the junk mail, the directors became anxious to settle for what they could get, and get out. They made an offer: Would the party take the Sutton Hoo in full and total settlement of wages and bonuses owing, and if so, would they sign here please, thankyou very much, be seeing you. And so, Fenella Spindrift, Talya Voronova, and Captain Joseph Abraham Lincoln III became the joint owners of the Sutton Hoo — and EV-434, a medical droid which appeared to have been missed in the frantic winding-up of the company. Together, they formed the Sutton Hoo Exploration and Salvage Company — S.H.E.S.C. — and embarked upon a life of adventure, exploration, and nicking dead people's stuff.
