Oil pastel on MDF board

I got a voucher for art supplies for my 45th birthday, and spent it on Caran d'Ache Neopastels — very nice, soft, greasy oil pastels. They're a lot more expensive than Faber Castell pastels, but they're also quite a lot better, so the old pastels have pretty much been relegated to underdrawing.

I'd bought a little ready-made MDF folding screen a few years before, and never done anything with it. So I dragged it out, dusted it off and did this drawing on it.

Annette pointed out that the thing-living-inside-the-head is becoming a recurring motif. I wonder what that means? Something profound, no doubt.
