Wizard Spells

The spells listed here are based more or less on those I grew up with back in the dim, dark past when I was playing AD&D a hell of a lot. Some of the conversions are a little dicey, but they'll do for the moment. I'll work on them as and when I need to; the main things missing from them at present are point values.

Note that many of the spell effects are variable, depending on the level of the caster. The Hero system is not level-based, but for the purposes of these spells a level refers to 5 points in Magic Skill Levels.

For example, 5th Level Wizard spells require a minimum of 9 Levels to be able to cast them at all. These can be made up of a mixture of 2, 5 and 8 point levels. However, for the purposes of determining the effect of the spell, you have to tally the points in your Magic Skill Levels and divide them by 5 to get the Level of Effect. A Wizard who has relied on 2-point levels to get the 9 necessary levels has only 18 ÷ 5 = 3.6 (4) levels of effect, while another wizard who boasts nine 8-point levels will be able to cast the same spell with 72 ÷ 5 = 14.4 (14) levels of effect.

I won't be putting any spell descriptions here; if you want them you'll have to find a copy of the AD&D Player's Handbook. I don't want to risk infringing on TSR's copyright, since I fear their ravening hordes of berserk attack lawyers.
