This is an illustration for a traditional Irish tale of Fionnn MacCumhaill (Finn MacCool) called "The Little Brawl at Allen". Essentially, that story is about a fight that breaks out at a feast that escalates from fist-fight to all-out carnage, at the end of which over a thousand people are dead — I'm illustrating the moment when the first blade appears, but before anybody has actually been gutted.
