I did this while I was working in the Display Department of the Canterbury Museum. It was a pretty good job which, in a fit of frustrated depression, I stupidly tossed in. I'd been working with a whole bunch of dance-masks from the Solomon Islands, and though none of them actually looked exactly like this, they inspired me to paint this picture. The paint is just acrylic house paint.
